Reservations & Availability
All reservations at Southern Drake Lodge are subject to availability and confirmation. Rates, inclusions, and policies may change without notice. We reserve the right to correct errors, update information, or modify offerings at any time.
Reservation inquiries and bookings are managed through trusted third-party platforms, including Cloudbeds, with payments processed securely via Tab.
Payments & Transactions
Southern Drake Lodge does not store full payment details on its servers. All payment transactions are securely processed through third-party payment providers that comply with industry security standards.
We are not responsible for technical issues, interruptions, or errors that may occur within third-party payment or booking systems.
Travel, Activities & Experiences
Participation in activities, excursions, and transportation arranged during your stay is voluntary. Guests assume responsibility for assessing their own health, fitness, and safety before participating in any activity.
Southern Drake Lodge is not liable for delays, cancellations, weather conditions, wildlife encounters, or events beyond our reasonable control that may affect travel plans or experiences.

Policy Updates
Southern Drake Lodge reserves the right to update or modify this Policy & Disclaimer at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page.
Payment, booking and rates
- Booking online by card, full payment is required at the time of booking
- Booking via international/national bank transfer a minimum of a 25% non refundable deposit is due at the time of booking to confirm your dates.
- Final payment is due 60 calendar days prior to your arrival date.
- You must pay reservations in full prior to arrival.
- We have a 2 night minimum stay.
- We will accept ‘walk ins’ at our discretion, dependent on room availability and receipt of payment before entry.
- We accept payment by bank transfer in dollars (USD), colones (CRC). We also accept all major credit cards.
- If we don’t receive payments in accordance with our payment policy we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and apply our cancellation policy.
- Our daily Rates include 13% Costa Rican sales tax.
- We include transfers to and from Agujitas main beach and Drake Bay airport in our daily Rates
- Our daily Rates do not include the round trip flight for San Jose to Drake Bay.
- Daily room service type cleaning is included. Any excessive cleaning that’s required as a result of your stay will be subject to additional fees.
- Events – an extra fee may be charged dependent on the number attending and event requirements. Permission for events must be sought prior to your stay.
- Overweight/size baggage charges. We will let you know what your baggage allowance is if we book your internal flights from San Jose (SJO). You will be liable to pay any excess baggage charges.
Cancellation policy
- If you cancel your reservation up to 60 days before your arrival date. We will issue a refund minus 25% which counts as your non refundable deposit. If you request a cancelation within 60 days of the reservation date, we will not refund your payment.
- Cancellations and “No Shows” – Due to our small size, we have a strict cancellation policy. Avoid losing your money in the event you need to cancel your reservation with us. We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance. That said, we will do our best to work with you.
- “No shows” will not receive any refund. No partial refunds or credits will be due for room reservations, services and tours, you do not use due to circumstances beyond our control. Such as change of mind, missed flights, illness, etc.
- If you cancel a tour booked through us in less than 60 days prior to the date of the tour, you may still have to pay for the tour in full.
- In case of cancelation due to a natural disaster (e.g., hurricane or a pandemic), we will apply payments to a future stay within one year of the canceled stay. There are no refunds for natural disasters or pandemics. Credit only.
- Changes. If you wish to change the dates of your accommodation reservation, we will do our best to accommodate your request. We reserve the right to apply our cancellation policy if the request is made 60 days or less before the original check in date. If the new dates are later than your original reservation, the cancellation policy of 60 days notice remains applicable to the check in date of your original reservation, it is not transferable to the new check in date.
General
- Check-in time is between 1:00PM and 6.00PM. Our check-out time is at 11:00AM requests for earlier or later is subject to availability
- Smoking (including vaping and e-cigarettes) – Costa Rican law requires that all rooms and common areas are non-smoking, smoking is allowed in designated areas only.
- Children – are welcome in the Ocean View Penthouse, Rainforest, Jungle and Ocean Suites. The Gatehouse Cabin is not suitable for children. Parents or guardians accept the responsibility for their safety at all times. This is especially around heights with and without rails, the pools and with our dogs and cat. Our cat Gala can give a warning bite if you try to pet her.
- We do not allow pets at our hotel.
- Packages may be substituted for others depending on room and tour availability (additional fees may apply). That said, tours not taken may not be exchanged nor reimbursed.
- Visitors – For the security of all our guests, unauthorised outside visitors are not allowed.
- Wild animals – The feeding of wild animals including birds and monkeys is strictly forbidden. Please remember at all times our lodge is in the real jungle.
- We require an email address and passport number or Costa Rican ID and name as printed on the ID/passport to comply with Costa Rican regulations.
